TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident inside an Ayrshire courtroom.
Police Scotland confirmed that two men were taken into custody following the incident at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday September 7.
We contacted police after footage emerged online which appeared to show part of the incident inside one of the courtrooms.
Police said a 26-year-old man had been assaulted.
A spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a 26-year-old man, which took place at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court around 10.35am on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
"A second man, aged 35, was also arrested at the scene in connection with obstruction.
“Both men have been taken into custody and enquiries are ongoing.”
While a Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service spokesperson added: "Any recording within the sheriff or justice of the peace courts requires the permission of the sheriff principal.
"Anyone taking photographs or filming without prior permission may be found in contempt of court."
Thursday’s incident is understood to have happened after a 26-year-old man appeared in court to plead guilty to two offences relating to indecent images of children.
Blair Mullen admitted possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children at his home address in Crosshouse on elsewhere between February 9 and March 10, 2022.
He also pleaded guilty to taking, permitting to be taken or making the same types of photograph on February 9 last year.
Sentence on both charges was deferred until later this year and Mullen’s bail was continued.
