AN IRVINE restaurant has created a patriotic special dish as Scotland prepare to take on England at Hampden Park this evening, Tuesday September 12.
The match between the Auld Enemy will mark the 150th anniversary since the first meeting of the sides.
But The Niche Restaurant on Irvine's Harbourside are taking a slightly different approach to mark the occasion.
Tuesday is always two for one on burgers at the popular eatery, and today a special burger has been added to the selection.
The 'Flower of Scotland burger' has been created to make the most of some of the best known cuisine the nation has to offer.
The dish features two beef patties topped with cheese, with extra fillings including a haggis fritter and Irn-Bru mayo.
This can be serves with a special side of fries - hand cut chunky chips topped with cheese and malt whisky pepper sauce.
And as if that wasn't enough a special side is also on offer this evening - a deep fried Mars Bar.
So if you are already feeling patriotic in the lead up to kick-off at 7.45pm - why not keep that feeling going with a pre-match meal.
Walk ins are welcomed at The Niche, though you can book ahead to avoid disappointment by calling 01294 683107 or booking via thenicheirvine.co.uk.
The promotion will run from 12-9pm today at the Montgomery Street restaurant.
