AN IRVINE primary school is to remain closed for a second day today, Friday September 15.
Elderbank Primary School had to close its doors yesterday as a result of an issue with the schools water system.
Despite what the council described as "extensive investigation works" by Scottish Water, the issue was not resolved and further work is required.
As a result, pupils will once again not be able to attend the school - which is less than a decade old - as the water supply issue is addressed.
North Ayrshire Council confirmed the news yesterday evening, adding that it is hoped that work will be concluded over the weekend and no further closures are requried.
A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately Elderbank Primary School will remain closed to pupils and staff tomorrow, Friday September 15.
"Despite extensive investigative works undertaken today by Scottish Water, further works are required to fix the ongoing water supply issue, these are taking place as a priority.
"The head teacher will be in touch with parents/carers regarding arrangements for a remote learning plan for pupils.
"We are hopeful that repair works will be concluded over the weekend, however confirmation will be provided as soon as possible about arrangements for next week."
