THE owners of a popular food spot inside the Rivergate Shopping Centre have announced that they have "moved on" from the business.
Natalie and Jonathan Gray have confirmed that family reasons have made them decide to step away from Gray's Kitchen.
The couple took over the former Black Rooster unit at the Irvine shopping centre in December 2022, expanding from their previous venture at the Corner Shop in Kilwinning.
Gray's Kitchen has been incredibly popular since it officially opened in January, quickly becoming a must-visit spot for diners in Irvine.
However, after giving it much thought, the pair decided to leave the business on Thursday, September 21 and announced the decision in a social media post earlier this week.
They said: "There is no easy way to say this. The Grays will be moving on from Gray's Kitchen.
"We have tried our best to make things work, but it's just not the right time for us and our family.
"We want to build a life for them but not one that we aren't present in. It's been ten months, but it shows how fast they grow as we have missed so much, and we aren't willing to sacrifice so much time with them.
"This may be the end for us here, but I'm so proud we went for it. We have gained so much experience, friendships and some extra wrinkles, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
"A massive thank you to every one of you for supporting us and who knows - we may see you again one day."
It was also confirmed that despite the departure of the owning pair, the business will go on.
The remaining staff at Gray's Kitchen have vowed to come back, though the eatery will be closed for "a few days" while details are ironed out.
A further statement said: "We’re sad to see them go but it doesn’t mean the end for the rest of us - the restaurant staff and team behind the project.
"We will be closed for a few days to give us some time to revamp our menu and introduce our exciting new ideas.
"We can’t wait to share our new plans with you."
