Rail passengers in Irvine are facing disruption to services, with no trains running between Irvine and Ayr in the wake of a fire at the former Station Hotel.
ScotRail has confirmed the disruption to its services as a result of a devastating fire at the crumbling Station Hotel building at Ayr station on Monday, September 25.
Trains to and from the town were immediately suspended upon the discovery of the fire shortly after 5.30pm on September 25.
The rail operators now says the impact of the blaze is expected to disrupt train services to and from Ayr until at least 9am on Wednesday, September 27.
This means that all services from Glasgow Central which typically terminate at Ayr will now do so at Irvine.
Trains which usually run from Ayr to Glasgow will now begin their journey at Irvine.
As a result, ScotRail says it will have "multiple buses" running as a replacement between Ayr and Irvine calling at each station on the standard route - with the exception of Barassie. However, two minibuses will be running between this station and Irvine.
Buses between Irvine and Ayr will take commuters to the Morrisons supermarket car park in the town as access to the train station in Ayr, and the surrouding streets, has been limited by police as a result of the fire at the Station Hotel.
ScotRail will continue to provide further updates throughout the day, and these can be accessed online at journeycheck.com/scotrail/.
A number of services have also been cancelled altogether today.
These are as follow:
Ayr - Glasgow: 1751
Glasgow - Ayr: 1634, 1713
