An Irvine care home has enjoyed a community event with the area's MP.
Cumbrae Lodge Care Home in Irvine held a successful community coffee morning with Dr Philippa Whitford MP (SNP MP for Central Ayrshire) and the Marymass Marys, raising £150 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Members of the local community also joined residents and team members at the care home for a cuppa and a chat and to enjoy a selection of delicious cakes while being entertained by musician, Charlie Gorman.
In the week leading up to the big day, the home’s chefs helped residents perfect their cakes and bakes and residents also made decorations in their arts and crafts activities.
Resident June Cameron, aged 83, said: “What a brilliant day seeing everyone here to help raise money for Macmillan. I really enjoyed it and the singer and cakes were fantastic!”
Lynette Cushnaghan, the home’s Magic Moments coordinator, said: “It’s been great to see so many people come together for such a worthwhile cause and we all enjoyed lots of singing and dancing.
"Our residents love getting involved with their local community and had a wonderful time meeting new friends and of course, it was a great excuse to eat far too much cake.”
