YOUNG vandals have damaged the ruins at Kilwinning Abbey, according to police.
Officer said that a group were seen throwing rocks at the walls of the historic site on Friday, October 13.
Police are now appealing for help from anyone who spotted anything at the time.
A spokesperson said: "The incident reportedly occurred at about 1.30pm on Friday, October 13.
"Kilwinning Abbey, founded in the 1100s, is a scheduled monument – protected as a site of national importance as set out in the Ancient Monuments and Archeological Areas Act 1979.
"Heritage crime is identified as a vital strand with our partners Scottish PARC (SPARC) National Rural Crime Strategy.
"Historic Environment Scotland also plays a crucial role in investigating such crimes."
