A Kilwinning sex offender who assaulted a 13-year-old girl on a bus journey in North Ayrshire has been locked up.
Hugh Johnstone was on bail when he sexually assaulted the teen during a journey between Irvine and Stevenston.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty during a hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on October 23.
He admitted placing his hand on the girl's upper thigh and stroking the same area of her leg in the incident on August 23.
At the time of the offence Johnstone was the subject of a bail order granted on July 11, 2022.
He was also subject to the terms of a sex offender order which was imposed on December 8, 2017.
Johnstone, of Druid Drive, was remanded in custody following an initial appearance at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last month, and was sent back to custody after sentence was deferred for background reports.
He will be brought back to court for sentencing at a later date.
