A talent night in Irvine which was set to raise vital funds to build a maternity and health clinic in Malawi has been cancelled "due to unforseen circumstances".
The Irvine Kanyanda Project Talent Night event had been scheduled for, November 11 in Fullarton Connexions.
But project member Donna Smith revealed today: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have regrettably had to cancel the talent night.
"We understand the importance of community events, and it is deeply disappointing for us to have to make this decision.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we hope you understand that this was a difficult decision for us to make. We believe it is in the best interest of all involved parties."
She added: "Despite the cancellation, our commitment to serving the community remains unwavering.
"We will continue to work diligently on our mission to make a positive impact in Kanyanda, Malawi. We hope to find alternative ways to engage and collaborate with the community soon."
Money raised from the event had been earmarked for Kanyanda in Malawi, where Fullarton Connexions have been helping the community, the local church and the Malawi Health Ministry to build the clinic, as well as staff accommodation.
The ministry will staff the building if the community build it and the funds are needed to buy materials.
The desperately poor rural community urgently needs maternity and primary health care.
