AN IRVINE man has been locked up after admitting he made racial remarks towards a shop owner in the town.
John Abercrombie, 43, pleaded guilty to a pair of charge in relation to an incident at the Bus Stop News store on High Street when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
Abercrombie, of the town's Frew Terrace, also admitted stealing a quantity of confectionery items from the shop on September 10.
Court documents describe how Abercrombie acted in a "racially aggravated manner" towards the convenience store's proprietor by shouting, swearing and directing racial remarks towards him.
Following his guilty pleas, Abercrombie was remanded in custody until his sentencing next year.
