AN AUCHINLECK man has been handed a fine after driving under the influence of alcohol and crashing his car in Irvine.
Liam Strachan was also banned from the roads following the incident in Kilwinning Road on December 13, 2023.
The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to three charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
He admitted to being the driver of the car involved in the crash, which saw the vehicle become embedded in a railing, and failing to stop and give his details to the relevant people.
A further charge detailed how Strachan was also driving with no insurance.
The final charge saw the Auchinleck man, of the town's Glenshamrock Drive, admit to being over the drink-driving limit at this time.
The proportion of alcohol in Strachan's breath was found to be 61 microgrammes per 100 millilitres breath, which exceeds the legal limit of 22mg per 100ml.
He was fined £420 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for a period of 12 months.
