It's time to take another look back at the big stories and photos from Irvine and Kilwinning in January 2009.
What do you remember about these Irvine Times pictures from 15 years ago?
Burns fans were stunned when the Irvine Burns Club unveiled their new bronze in honour of the Bard - as it also featured William Wallace. The sculpture, which shows the pair in conversation at the old Irvine Bridge, was revealed for the first time to coincide with Burns’ 250th birthday celebrations.
A freight train transporting diesel and heating oil derailed and caught fire outside Stewarton. Officers battled to control the blazing inferno and an exclusion zone was set up around the area.
These cute youngsters from Bright Beginnings Nursery had a brilliant time helping one of their little friends celebrate Chinese New Year. Thomas Chan dressed up as a traditional dragon for the special day and his wee chums enjoyed some Chinese food that Thomas’ mum and dad had made.
Pupils from Lawthorn Primary 6B were given a good look around Irvine Burns Club, where they learned all about Robert Burns’ link with the town. And the pupils were in the capable hands of past president Michael Murray who had them enraptured with tales of the bard.
A Kilwinning pensioner was officially honoured for her services on the home front. Peggy Neville, 83, was awarded a special badge from Prime Minister Gordon Brown to commemorate her role as a 'Land Girl' during the Second World War.
Sixth and fifth year pupils at St Matthew's Academy showed off their trendy togs at a fashion show held at their school.
