AN IRVINE bar is in the running to receive national recognition...after less than seven months in business.
The Northern Way opened at the end of June last year after Amber Taverns took over the former R&A Sports Bar on High Street.
A £500,000 makeover preceded the re-opening before locals had the chance to pop in and see the new look venue.
And it seems the popular pub has already made quite the impression after being nominated for five national awards.

Earlier this week the venue informed customers that they had been reached the shortlist for the annual Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards.
The Northern Way is in the running for five categories: best newcomer, best pub, best team, best sports bar, and best experience day.
The team were delighted with the recognition when they announced the nominations on social media.
A spokesperson said: "The excitement is real! All the hard work really does pay off."
Now, the team from the High Street venue are looking for locals to offer their support - and drive them on to claim the top prize.
Voting is now open for the awards and those looking to get behind The Northern Way can vote online at tinyurl.com/SEHAwards.
The awards ceremony itself will take place in Glasgow later this year.
