Four Greenwood Academy girls raised £350 for Yorkhill Childrens’ Charity in 2014 as part of their Dynamic Youth Award. They organised a sponsored nun through Eglinton Park, Kilwinning. Pupils at St Luke’s Primary School, Kilwinning spent a fun day building dens just before the 2014 Easter break.
Irvine athlete Paul Camlin raised £1,450 for the Royal Air Forces Association after completing the 2014 London Marathon in a time of three hours and 40 minutes.
Kilwinning athlete Michael Kirkum was set to take on the Race to the Stones ultramarathon in 2014, alongside his son Michael Jnr and his daughter Janette. They would tackle a 100km race along the Ridgeway long distance footpath finishing at the ancient Avebury Stone Circle in Wiltshire.
Seven budding chefs from Irvine enjoyed a 10-week cookery course in April 2014. The Springboard Charity, which helped young, unemployed and disadvantaged people into a career in hospitality, leisure and tourism, held a celebration event for the team.
