Irvine's community council is looking to establish an official noticeboard in the town centre.
The call for action comes following a survey among members of the public on what they would most like to see from the group in the town.
The service is aimed at helping people find out what is going on in the area, especially those who don’t use social media.
Chairman Chris Pless said: “We have an action-related survey in which people say what they would most like in Irvine.
“Quite a few respondents have pointed out that there is not a physical noticeboard anywhere in Irvine, like there are in other towns, for people who are not on social media.
“They have them in community centres, but unless you physically go into them you don’t see them.
“We have asked about the feasibility of a noticeboard in Irvine town centre.
“Some sites are being looked into, including the grass area at Trinity Church where Bridgegate is. Rivergate Centre own the first metre of land from the wall close to the path, facing the square where you would want to put a noticeboard.
“We will follow up with them and see what the score is.
“Once we have a site then we could get a bit of funding for it.
"The boards are quite easy to put up and you could have them protected against the elements.”
