An Irvine man has been handed unpaid work after assaulting security staff at a busy shopping centre.
Luke Walker, 31, of Ayr Road, appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court following the incident on December 17 last year.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting a man by pushing him on the body and attempting to slap him, and also admitted separate charges of assaulting a police officer by kicking him on the body, and shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence at them.
The court heard that Walker was within Rivergate Shopping Centre when security staff were made aware of a disturbance.
Security made their way to Walker, who spoke to him and believed him to be under the influence of drink or drugs.
Walker then pushed one of the security staff, and also attempted to slap him with his right hand.
Walker left the shopping precinct but was later traced by police to his home address, where he was arrested and became aggressive.
He shouted "I did f*** all you f****** c****" and "I cannae wait till you take these cuffs off me, i'll smash your faces in".
Whilst being placed in the back of the police van, Walker also began kicking out at officers, before being taken to Saltcoats Police Office.
He was handed 80 hours of unpaid work by Sheriff Murdoch Mactaggart.
