Irvine Incorporated Trades celebrated the annual Burgh Ball at the weekend.
There was an excellent turnout for the big event in the Riverside Lodge, which celebrates the incorporation of Irvine as a Burgh.
The community organisation has been running since 1646 after a seal of cause was granted by the Royal Burgh of Irvine nearly 378 years ago.
This original seal of cause was granted to seven different craft guilds in the Irvine area.
With the Charter came the right and privilege to manufacture and sell goods within the town boundaries.
The Incorporation had the right to try all made work by journey men from within the town and those who came to work from outside the town.
No one could, without permission of the Incorporation, manufacture and sell goods in the town.
In 1846 an act of Parliament abolished exclusive rights and trading privileges of trade guilds and Incorporations throughout Scotland.
And while the Burgh itself may have ceased to exist in 1972, the traditional ball has been maintained ever since by the Irvine Trades to keep alive the sense of community, the traditions and obligation the incorporation brings.
Who can you spot enjoying the ball in these photos by Charlie Gilmour?
