IRVINE primary school kids are helping to send a strong message to those visiting the town's beach this summer.

The local beauty spot attracts thousands of people during the peak season as they all look for a great day out at the coast.

Though a prominent issue during this time in litter being left behind - and the potential dangers this poses to local wildlife and sea creatures.

That is why the Irvine Clean Up Crew worked in conjunction with North Ayrshire Council to let local primary kids spread a positive message about not leaving your litter behind.

A competition was ran across the Irvine primaries with over 500 children designing posters.

Of these, six winners were selected and these posters are now displayed across the bins in the beach park car park.

It is hoped they will remind beach users all summer to be responsible with their rubbish and keep Irvine Beach looking fabulous.

Orla Templeton from Woodlands PS, Sam McQueen, Emily Paton, Hollie Simpson and Isaac MacDonald from Dreghorn PS and Linda Landsborough from Loudon Montgomery PS all now have their work in place and spreading a strong message.

Over the weekend the five of the winning youngsters joined the Clean Up Crew to pick up their prizes and to see their posters in place.

Clean Up Crew chairperson, Jennifer Pless, said: "We were absolutely delighted with all of the entries we received for our art competition. The pupils all did an amazing job.

"It definitely made it hard for us to narrow the entries down.

"Our six winners should be very proud of themselves, there was some tough competition, but their messages and artwork really stood out to us. Well done.

"We really appreciate being able to work in partnership with North Ayrshire Council to make this opportunity possible.
