A man and woman have been charged in connection with an alleged serious assault in Irvine which saw a man taken to hospital.
Police confirmed a 32-year-old man was injured after officers attended a home in Beaton Terrace at 1.40am on Saturday, June 1.
A 42-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have since been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Both are now due to appear in court next week.
The man had to be taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment to his injuries.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.40am on Saturday, 1 June, 2024 officers received a report of a serious assault in the Beaton Terrace area of Irvine.
"A 32-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
"A 42-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
"They are due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, June 3, 2024.
"A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
