This week, we take a look back at the big stories from Irvine and Kilwinning in June 2014.

And it was a busy time, with the Segdoune Gala, the new Marymass royal party revealed and even a delivery lorry crashing through a garden wall.

Who can you spot in these Times photos from 10 years ago?

Irvine Times: Marymass

Irvine Royal Academy pupil Ashleigh McLachlan, 14, was revealed as the 2014 Marymass Queen. By her side throughout the celebrations would be her four Marys – Carys Hughes, Erin Montgomery (both from St Matthew’s) along with Zoe Clark and Eden Frew (Greenwood Academy).


Irvine Times: Crash

A Castlepark family were left stunned and shaken after a supermarket delivery van emblazoned with the slogan ‘from our store to your door’ lost control and ploughed through their garden wall. Heather McIntyre was watching TV with her four young children at their home in Dunvegan Place when the Asda van came crashing through her garden scattering bricks all over the grass.


Irvine Times: Segsdoune

Kilwinning’s Queen Lauren Caldwell was crowned before large crowds in June 2014 by long serving local businesswoman Aileen Paterson.


Irvine Times: Greenwood

Staff and pupils at Greenwood Academy helped raise £3,000 for charity. Gail Anderson from Ayrshire Cancer Support was on hand to receive the cheque at the school.


Irvine Times: Bowls

Members and friends of Kilwinning Bowling Club took part in a sponsored walk around Cumbrae.


Irvine Times: Annick Primary pupils enjoy Jammin' Fitness in 2014

Irvine’s Annick Primary School welcomed a representative from Jammin’ Fitness into their school to get the pupils excited about exercise and boosting their self esteem.
