AN IRVINE man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an incident in the town.

Patrick Goddard made no plea when he appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, June 10.

The 26-year-old has been charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.

He was remanded in custody pending a further court appearance at a later date.

Mr Goddard's court appearance came after police were called to a report of a "disturbance" in the town's Ayr Road at around 10.20pm on Thursday, June 6.

Police said two men, aged 47 and 31, had been taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment following the incident.
