AN IRVINE rocker and his bandmates are set to support a big name from the new wave of heavy metal at a gig in Glasgow later this year.

Stewartie Adams and his Lyin Rampant bandmates landed the guest appearance spot for the Tygers of Pan Tang's gig at the Classic Grand in the city's Jamaica Streeton Friday, November 8.

And they're about to start working on some new additions to their set in the hope of catching a few more eyes, and ears, on the big night.

Stewartie revealed: "We will be back in the studio in Glasgow in a couple of weeks after a long needed break after our Graham Bonnet UK winter tour at the end of last year.

"We will be rehearsing and adding some new material to our set for the Tygers Glasgow show."

Girdle Toll man Stewartie first hit the headlines back in 1987 when Lyin Rampant were tipped for success following the release of their debut album Up N Cumin.

Sadly, the band split in 1991, but their debut LP was later picked up by an Italian label and proved a big hit on the European hard rock scene.

Following their reformation a year or so ago, the band played at last year's Winterstorm festival in Troon, alongside rock legends Michael Schenker, formerly of UFO, and ex Rainbow singer Graham Bonnet.

Lyin Rampant went on to support Bonnet on dates in Sheffield, Manchester and London, the last at the O2 Academy in Islington.
