Irvine car meet organisers looking to raise cash for charity

The team at Streetkulture, who arrange the events at Irvine beach park, are hoping that companies will get behind their cause as they look to raise cash for local charities.

The group are set to hold their next event in the town on Sunday, July 28.

Thousands of cars descended on the area for the group's last event, on May 26.

As a result of the 'cruise' - dubbed May Madness - Streetkulture raised £1,600, thanks to support from Epic competitions, KW Kustoms, Autoperfekt and The Donut Van.

This money was donated to Irvine-based charity Fullarton ConneXions, in memory of the mother of one of the team's mothers.

A spokesperson said: "In our last meet we had people from all over the UK and Ireland. We reckon there was more than 1,000 cars over the space of the day which was amazing for local businesses on the harbour side."

Now, they are hoping that more businesses will get on board ahead of their 'Summer Smasher' in July.

They are asking those looking to get involved to make a minimum donation of £200.

In return, businesses will have their names on a banner which will be displayed at the event, as well as access to advertise on the Streetkulture Facebook group, which boasts nearly 20,000 followers.

All money raised will be split between three different Ayrshire-based organisations - Whiteleys Retreat, Irvine Coastwatch, and the Fullarton Hub.

The spokesperson added: "It’s not just car-related businesses we are looking for. All and any type of business is welcome to come on board to help raise money for three amazing local charities that all do super work in the local community. 

"We hope with the help of businesses by coming forward we can raise a lot of money, and have a load of people come to show off their vehicles and enjoy some of the local shops and cafes in the area."
