Irvine Running Club's Marymass 10k will be celebrating its centenary next month.
And the demand to take part has been so great, that the event is already sold out.
The race has been known as the Jim Young Marymass 10k since 2015 in memory of the man who was a stalwart not only of athletics in Ayrshire, but also across the whole of Scotland.
The club's David Morrison said: "This years event is slightly more special, as it is our centenary year and its the fastest sell out of our event ever with 400 competitors. The event is pre-entry only with no entries on the day of the race.
"This race is organised again sponsored by several local companies, Brodie Engineering, Pipeline Drillers, and Vanilla Joe’s. A huge thank you to them."
The annual race is held on paths and roads in the Beachpark/Harbour area of Irvine starting at Vanilla Joe's and finishing on the harbourside. The course is relatively flat and suitable for runners of all abilities.
Each runner will get a memento on completion of the race and a free ice cream from Vanilla Joe's - just show your bib number.
Refreshments will be served after the race in the Maritime Museum. The prizegiving will be at 8.15pm.
