Workers at Irvine insurance brokers Hara Hill Wason had a grand old time for charity in July 2004, raising more than £1,000 by walking to Prestwick in their pyjamas.

Council worker Craig Wilson obviously had his brave pills in 2004 when he took part in a charity zip slide event. Craig, front, joined NAC Provost Drew Duncan, Seagate Rotary official Hugh Hutchison and Dr Nazarus from the African country of Malawi, before he zipped out over the River Irvine. All money raised was sent to the people of Malawi.

Stanecastle School bid a tearful farewell to their much loved head teacher in summer 2004. Doreen Heron gratefully accepted a bouquet of flowers from teacher Joyce Armstrong as she prepared to enjoy her retirement.

Generous students at James Watt College in Kilwinning raised more than £700 for cancer patients in Ayrshire in July 2004 after completing an eight-mile charity trek on Arran.
