A much-loved Stewarton business has marked 25 years of trading in the town.

The Groom Room, in the town's Lainshaw Street, first opened in 1999 and has dealt with thousands of dogs in the quarter-century since then.

The business is run by Kirsten Cowling, with help from her family, though Kirsten has revealed that dogs aren't the first animals she's been responsible for beautifying.

She said: "I got into dog grooming almost by accident.  For years I clipped horses and gradually people started to ask me to run the horse clippers over their dogs.

"Eventually I realised that people were looking for a well run, reasonably priced salon to take their precious pets too.

"At that point I decided to train as a groomer and the rest, as they say, is history.

"I try to ensure that every dog is looked after to a standard that I would want for my own two boys."

On her 25th anniversary milestone, she said: "Happy birthday to us. Big big thank you to all my clients over the years."
