TWO colleagues from an Irvine-based business are taking on a monumental charity challenge in a bid to raise funds for a charity close to their hearts.

Kevin McFadzean and Kris Ballantyne will be taking on Diabetes UK's 'Million Step Challenge' - where the goal is to reach the seven-figure step goal between the beginning of July and end of September.

The duo, who both work for Green Home Systems, were both inspired to take on the task due to their experiences with the condition.

Irvine man Kris is taking part in memory of his Dad, Arthur, who passed away in January after decades of battling with the illness.

Kris said: “Having seen first-hand the struggle and debilitation Diabetes had caused him over the years, it’s important we raise funds for Diabetes UK to continue their life-changing work.”

The Irvine man also has further plans to take part in the upcoming Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise awareness and fundraise.

While Kevin, from Kilmarnock, has his own experiences with diabetes.

He added:  “I was inspired to raise money for Diabetes UK as I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in May 2024 and through the support and advice given to me by Diabetes UK I’ve changed my diet, become fitter and lost almost two stone."

Both Kris and Kevin have fundraising pages set up as they look to raise funds over the coming months. These will remain open until the end of October.
