Shoppers at Tesco in Ayr are being urged to support a charity collection in the store today (Friday, July 26).
Irvine woman Amy Gilmour is holding a collection for the Leanne fund, which helps children and young people suffering from cystic fibrosis.
The charity was initially launched on the Isle of Lewis but now covers most of Scotland, including Ayrshire & Arran.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic condition that affects a protein in the body. People who have cystic fibrosis have a faulty protein that affects the body’s cells, its tissues, and the glands that make mucus and sweat. it can cause serious infections in organs.
The disease used to cause death in childhood, however survival has improved because of medical discoveries and advances in newborn screening, medicines, nutrition, and lung transplants.
If you can help support the Leanne Fund, look out for Amy in the store today. She will be there until around 6pm.
