POLICE in Ayrshire have issued advice to locals and motorists ahead of a planned car cruise event in Irvine this weekend.
With previous events proving popular - thousands of motorists are expected to descend on the town’s beach park when the cruise takes place on Sunday, July 28.
With this in mind, police are warning those planning to visit the area that heavy congestion is expected throughout the day.
Officers will also be in attendance at the car cruise, and are urging those planning to come to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and that they behave in an respectful manner.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police Scotland Ayrshire are aware of a planned car cruise event at Irvine Beach Park on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
“Previous events have seen over 1000 vehicles in attendance and police are advising there may be some delays and congestion within the area.
“Divisional road policing and locality officers will be duty patrolling areas leading both to and from the event.
“We ask that drivers ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and all relevant driving documents are in order and that those in attendance assist in leaving the area clean and clear of rubbish after the event.
“Anyone with concerns can speak to officers community officers or contact Police Scotland via 101.“
