FRESH proposals have been lodged for a new housing development in Irvine.
Dawn Eco-build Limited have submitted plans to build 14 homes on the former Gailes Farm land - a site which has been of interest to developers for more than two decades.
The first application brought to North Ayrshire Council was put forward back in 2003, with plans at that time to create only half a dozen properties.
More recently, Dawn Eco-build had an application to build 12 homes on the site approved only two years ago.
These latest proposals would see an increase in the homes created on the former farm steading, which previously contained a farmhouse until that was lost in a fire.
The land is within a secluded area along Gailes Road, and borders Marine Drive and the railway line. It is only a short distance from Dundonald Links, Western Gailes Golf Club and the Gailes Hotel and Spa.
Of the homes planned for the site, nine would be four-bedroomed detached properties, with the remainder being five-bedroomed detached homes.
Each property will be two storeys tall and would be situated around a central "amenity space" in the middle of the site.
In total, it is proposed that 60 car parking spaces would be created to support the housing development.
Access to the development would be created via an entry area on Gailes Road.
Documents supporting the application added: "The overall concept of the proposals is to create a sense of place within an attractive environment with high quality design and specification.
"Careful design of the site together with careful integration into the landscape will allot the development to fit into its setting whilst creating potential for new habitats for wildlife.
"The site provides an excellent opportunity to deliver a housing development with a strong character and a sense of place.
"A clear vision has been established that will create an attractive residential development."
The proposal were brought to North Ayrshire Council earlier this week and are currently pending consideration.
