A PAIR of North Ayrshire Wild ice hockey stars are set to embark on their own respective European adventures.

Both Flynn Massie and Liam Houston have played for their local club for over a decade - having joined their ranks from an early age.

Most recently, the duo have been turning out for the Wild's under 19 and Scottish National League (SNL) sides.

Both Flynn and Liam were instrumental in the under 19 side's invincible league championship winning team this past season.

And they have both competed at the highest level in their home nation - having turned out in the uniforms of both Scottish and UK select team - winning numerous trophies and tournaments along the way.

Though now, they will be moving on to pastures new as they look to further their careers within the sport.

Flynn will be flying out to Frankfurt in Germany on Friday, August 9, and is set to sign with Löwen Frankfurt E.V.

The talented teen will wear the number 16 jersey and play for the club's under 20 side.

Playing in the Deutsche Nachwuchsliga second division, it is set to be a tough challenge for Flynn though it is undoubtedly an exciting opportunity.

The youngster says he has mixed emotions as he departs North Ayrshire though he is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

Flynn will enter straight into a pre season training camp on his arrival in Germany.

While Liam will be venturing out elsewhere in Europe, and is heading to Austria on Tuesday, August 13.

Here, he will sign up with the Nordic Hockey Academy at under 18s age level, competing in the Austrian International League which will see him play in Austria, Hungary and Slovenia.

A North Ayrshire Wild spokesperson said: "Everyone associated with North Ayrshire Wild wish both these young gentleman all the very best of luck on their new ventures overseas.

"We will keep you all updated with how they are progressing as soon as we have details."
