Three people arrested for allegedly assaulting and injuring a man to his 'permanent disfigurement' in Irvine have been held in custody.

Francis Hughes, 47, Christopher Leishman, 35, and Natasha Tracey, 38, appeared from custody last Friday after their arrest for alleged involvement in an assault in Irvine's Bank Street.

We previously reported a 41-year-old man was taken to hospital following an incident at around 9pm on Thursday [August 8]. 

The trio all entered no plea to a charge of assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement during a private petition hearing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last Friday [August 9].

Mr Hughes and Ms Tracey, both of Irvine, and Mr Leishman, whose address was listed as Ardrossan, were committed for further examination and remanded in custody

They are due to appear for a further full committal hearing in eight days.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At around 8.50pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024, we were called to a report of disturbance in Bank Street, Irvine

"Emergency services attended and 41-year-old man was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.

“A 38-year-old woman and two men aged 47 and 35 were arrested and charged in connection with serious assault and were due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, August 9, 2024. Enquiries are ongoing.”
