A 33-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly crashing in Ardrossan this morning following a police car chase all the way from Irvine.
Police Scotland said the man had failed to stop for officers on the A78 near the Warrix Interchange.
A pursuit followed before the man's vehicle crashed in Ardrossan's Sorbie Road. It's believed another vehicle also suffered damage.
The man is alleged to have then fled the vehicle and ran off, only to be spotted thanks to help from the Police Air Unit.
The man was then taken for treatment at Crosshouse Hospital and has now been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 a car failed to stop for officers on the A78 near the Warrix Interchange.
"Following a pursuit involving road policing officers, the car crashed on Sorbie Road.
"The driver made off from the car and was traced a short time later following a search involving officers from the Air Unit.
"A 33-year-old man was arrested in connection with a number of road traffic offences and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
