A POPULAR Irvine Harbourside business has announced its closure.
Restaurant and takeaway Nonna's House announced this week that they have shut up shop.
The news comes little over a year on from the pizzeria opening its doors for the first time on Montgomery Street.
The business had taken on the property previously occupied by Nancy's Kitchen which closed in September 2022 amid rising costs associated with operation.
It was news which disappointed people across Irvine who were fans of the restaurant's burgers, toasties, tango ice blasts and loaded chips - and the premises lay empty for nearly 10 months after.
Nonna's House proved a popular and welcome addition to the existing food spots within Irvine Harbourside when it opened last year.
And after news of their closure was announced, with no one reason given for them shutting up shop, many locals were left gutted.
One person said: "I have to say. I’m gutted about this. Pizza is my ‘go to’ for a treat, and never have I tasted one like a Nonna's House.
"Wishing you all the best and hopefully you’ll be back sometime soon."
While another added: "So sad to hear this, I loved my trips here and it was definitely my favourite place for a pizza in the area.
"Not sure how I will replace their honey and chilli chicken strips either. Hopefully this isn't goodbye for good."
A Nonna's spokesperson said: "Sadly Nonna's is now closed. Thank you to all our customers, you will always have a pizza our hearts."
