THE number of offences committed across two car cruise events in Irvine have been revealed.
Local police announced the figures at the beginning of this week during a meeting of North Ayrshire Council's 'police and fire and rescue' committee.
During this meeting, details were provided on the two events which have taken place this year at Irvine Beach Park.
Chief Inspector Fraser Normansell, area commander for North Ayrshire, explained that around 2,000 people attended across both 'meet ups'.
The first of the events took place on Sunday, May 26, and was described as the busiest of the two car cruises.
Police confirmed that only one complaint was made by a member of the public with regards to the event, in relation to excessive noise.
However, a total of 26 offences were reported on the day, with Chief Inspector Nomansell revealing these included drug driving, careless driving, driving without insurance and without a license, a number of speeding offences and other traffic offences. There was also one vehicle seized from the event.
At the second car cruise, which took place on Sunday, July 28, there was a "drop off" in attendance, according to police.
There were 13 offences detected on this date, and one complaint was made by a member of the public in reference to "vehicle obstruction".
