The Marymass 10k race celebrated its centenary in style yesterday (Wednesday, August 21) - despite stormy conditions.
The Irvine Running Club event saw competitors run through the rain during the sold-out competition.
The race has been known as the Jim Young Marymass 10k since 2015 in memory of the man who was a stalwart not only of athletics in Ayrshire, but also across the whole of Scotland.
The club's David Morrison said: "This years event was slightly more special, as it is our centenary year and its the fastest sell out of our event ever with 400 competitors.
"The weather was terrible but the event was a success and most of the entrants were happy and commented on how cheery and encouraging all us volunteers were - even though we were soaked through."
The race was sponsored by several local companies, Brodie Engineering, Pipeline Drillers, and Vanilla Joe’s.
The annual race is held on paths and roads in the Beachpark/Harbour area of Irvine starting at Vanilla Joe's and finishing on the harbourside. The course is relatively flat and suitable for runners of all abilities.
Each runner got a memento on completion of the race and a free ice cream from Vanilla Joe's.
Photographer Charlie Gilmour braved the storm to get these fantastic pics.
