Despite a few damp days leading up to Marymass Saturday that year, the sun came out shining for the big day.

Queen Laurie Swan and her Marys Helen Kennedy, Ainsley Storrie, Adrienne Thomson and Stephanie Kane joined in a procession full of colour and music.

The air was filled with tunes from a variety of local bands while talented dance troupes performed in the sunshine.

Of course, there was the usual array of impressive horses, from the massive Clydesdales to some daintily decorate Shetland ponies.

Marymass Queen Laurie and her Marys didn’t let the rain dampen spirits as they donned their brollies and enjoyed the spectacle of the traditional Fourth Port Parade in 2009.
