AN IRVINE business owner has announced her plans to shut up shop.

Eileen Mcmeekin, who operates Rainbow Arts and Crafts, has confirmed her intention to step away due to illness.

As well as fantastic crafts, the shop also offered special adults nights and kids time.

The decision to close is one that the owner says she took with a "heavy heart" when she announced the news on social media.

She commented: "It's with a heavy heart I am writing this to all my customers, who all became friends, due to illness I will be closing."

The doors have not been completely closed as of yet, with no date confirmed at this stage, though Eileen is now planning to sell off her remaining stock "at extremely reduced prices".

Those wishing to pay final visits can pick up outstanding bargains from 12-5pm on Saturday, August 31.

Furnishing and electrics from the store within the Montgomery Place units are also to be sold during this time.

After the closure was announced, many locals moved quickly to wish Eileen all the best in the future.

One person said: "I’m sorry to hear this but you have to take care of yourself. Lots of happy memories made with your art kits."

While another added: "Very sorry to read this. Never nice seeing a small business stop."
