THE Irvine community came together last week as Overdose Awareness Day was marked across the country.
Over 50 people turned out to pay tribute to loved ones lost at an event organised by local addiction recovery group, Minds of Recovery.
Those in attendance met at the Fullarton Hub on Saturday, August 31, before taking part in a memorial walk through the town.
A flower ceremony also took place as a touching tribute was paid to those no longer with us.
Upon returning to the hub, there was naloxone training provided with other parts of the event supported by Cafe Solace volunteers and in partnership with Fullarton Hub and North Ayrshire Drug and Alcohol Partnership.
A Minds of Recovery spokesperson said: "Around 50 of the community came together to remember loved ones lost to an overdose.
"The theme this year was 'Together We Can', and as a community we spoke about loved ones and how as a community we can come together and look for the invisible addict and connect with them and save a life."
