A REMARKABLE Irvine woman has celebrated her 103rd birthday with family and friends.
Jane Whyte marked the big occasion at Woodland View, where she has been residing since a fall last year.
Born in Glasgow on September 17, 1921, Jane was married to her husband Alexander for more than 40 years and has four children, Les, David, Susan and Val, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
During World War II, she drove ammunition trucks, but for most of her working life she was a nurse.
Alex and Jane - best known as Jean - moved to Girdle Toll with her family in the 70s and she worked in Irvine Central Hospital.
Jane worked well into her 60s as a community nurse in Ayrshire. Husband Alex sadly died in 1989.
Daughter Val Allan said: "Mum lived independently until last year when she had a fall and she now resides in Woodland View, Irvine, where the staff are amazing."
Congratulations to Jane and we're sure she had an incredible day.
