Equip was a new project targeted at bringing the long-term unemployed residents of Vineburgh and Redburn in Irvine and Ardeer in Stevenston closer to the labour market.

(Image: Newsquest) The weather did not dampen the spirit of the annual MS Ayrshire Fun Day at Eglinton Park in Kilwinning in 2004. The three day event to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis sufferers from Ayrshire was a success despite the dismal rain.

The Tourism, Culture and Sport minister cut the ribbon at the club’s £200,000 multi-court arena and showpiece grass football pitch, joined by KSC chairman Jim McCubben and local politicians.

(Image: Newsquest) Pennyburn Primary School’s seven-a-side football team were ready to step out in style after being given a new set of sponsored strips in 2004. Cranberry Moss community cafe donated the kits to the boys and girls on the team.

The Red Wheelies had been using the busy Volunteer Rooms, but needed a new venue to give them more time to rehearse their routines before the UK Wheelchair Dancing Championships later in 2004.
