AN IRVINE footbridge has been closed as a "precautionary measure".
The access route between West Bowhouse Way and Southrook Row in Girdle Toll has been shut on the advice of consultants, according to North Ayrshire Council.
While they say the bridge is not "immediately dangerous", the route will be closed while structural investigations concerning the link are carried out.
Heras fencing will shortly be erected at the entrances and residents are asked to use alternative routes during this time.
A council spokesperson added: "Timescales for repair are currently being sought and a further update will be provided when these have been received."
