CUMBRAE Lodge Care Home in Irvine held a community coffee morning raising £100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Residents were delighted to meet the Marymass Queen and her Marys, who joined guests for a morning of fundraising fun over a cuppa and a selection of delicious cakes.

Local singer Charlie Gorman serenaded guests and had everyone joining in with a singalong as he played his guitar.

In the week leading up to the big day, the home’s chefs helped residents perfect their cakes and bakes and residents also made decorations in their arts and crafts activities.

Resident Brian Salvage, 78, said “That was brilliant. What a fantastic time we all had raising money for this worthy cause.”

The home’s magic moments coordinator, Lynette Cushnaghan, said: “We’re all very keen to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support as it is a cause close to many of our hearts.

"Our residents love getting involved with their local community and had a wonderful time meeting new friends.”

Cumbrae Lodge Care Home is in Castlepark Road and provides nursing dementia and palliative care.
