POLICE are seeking the assistance of the public to help them find a missing Irvine man.

Extensive inquiries are under way to locate Mark Armit, 62, who was last seen at around 10.20am on Tuesday, October 1 on platform four at Ayr train station.

Mark had given suggestions that he may have travelled to Glasgow, but this has not been confirmed.

The missing man is described as white British, around 5ft 7in, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a dark grey hooded fleece over a navy and white grey top, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers with a white sole.

Mark has access to a wheelchair, but can walk unaided with poor mobility.

If anyone has seen Mark or has any information or knowledge as to his whereabouts, contact Irvine police office on the police non-emergency number, 101. The reference is PS-20241001-1209.

Police Scotland confirmed on Thursday morning that Mr Armit has been traced.
