AN INFORMATION evening is set to be held in Irvine in a bid to help locals stay "one step ahead of online scams".

The event have been planned in light of Cyber Security Awareness Week and will be staged in Redburn Community Centre later this month.

Taking place on Monday, October 28 - from 7pm until 9pm - the event is aimed at helping people ensure they stay safe online in an ever-changing world.

As well as helping you stay one step ahead of online scams, participants will be given an insight into how defrauders operate and what types of things you might expect to see and read.

Information will also be provided in what to do if you suddenly find yourself a victim of a scam, which are increasingly common at the moment as the methods used are becoming more sophisticated and difficult to detect.

Also attending will be representatives from the local police and Ayrshire Trading Standards.

They will advise on how you can keep safe from scams in both the physical and cyber worlds.

Tickets are free but space is limited so please book early to avoid disappointment and log onto irvinecommunitycouncil.org.uk.
