A TALENTED Irvine teenager has her sights set on award success as her career goes from strength to strength.

Earlier this year, local musician Abbie Gordon played her first headline gig at Glasgow's King Tut's - as part of the tenth anniversary line-up of their Summer Nights series.

The show was a roaring success and has opened up further opportunities, with the Irvine girl now selected to play Glasgow’s Tenement Trail multi-venue festival of new music, which takes place on Saturday, October 12.

Abbie will be playing in the Winged Ox at 3.45pm that day.

She has also taken her talents south of the border this week, as support to fast-rising North Lanarkshire singer Kerr Mercer.

Kerr previously had Abbie as a special guest at his own sold-out King Tut’s show back in March and invited her to join him for his first headline tour in England.

They played Birmingham on Sunday, October 6, and are set to gig in Bristol on Tuesday, October 8, before rounding off in Manchester on Thursday, October 10.

However, this has been far from the only great news that the Irvine youngster has had to celebrate.

Abbie also discovered recently that she had been nominated in the 'Young Live Artist Of The Year' in the Scottish Live Music Awards.

The awards aim to spotlight the best of Scotland's live music across the country, giving fans an opportunity to celebrate the artists, venues and festivals that make Scotland’s music scene one of the most exciting in the world.

Abbie has been included in a long-list of 12 artists vying for the award, with a public vote currently taking place to determine the final shortlist.

Voting will be open until October 24, when a music industry panel will pick the overall winner.
