A ROBBERY victim was hospitalised after a "shocking" incident in Stewarton earlier this week.
Around 4pm on Monday, October 7, a 55-year-old man was within a property in Vennel Street when a man entered and assaulted him before robbing him of a two-figure sum of cash.
According to police, the suspect made off on a dark coloured mountain bike. He is described as white, in his early 30s, 5ft 8in, of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a black tracksuit top and dark coloured trousers.
The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he received treatment for head injuries.
Detective Sergeant Keith Hyndes, from Ayrshire CID, said: “This was a shocking incident and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Vennel Street and Lainshaw Street areas at the time who noticed anything suspicious, or a man matching the above description.
“We would also urge anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to check in case they have captured anything which could assist with our enquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2381 of Monday, October 7, 2024. You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
