A COMEDY drama set in a diet class is heading to Irvine next week.
Diet, presented by Our Time Productions, is coming to the Harbour Arts Centre on Friday, October 25.
The show centres around five overweight and slightly weather-beaten souls finding comfort and solace by attending their weekly, local slimming class.
Due to various dilemmas facing each character, the class offers a much-needed temporary escape from the daily grind.
Although none of them are particularly focused on, or interested in losing weight, they all somehow manage to keep up the pretence, much to the unbridled rage of the class leader Moira who herself carries around with her a very embarrassing secret.
A humorous delve into some of the reasons and excuses for overeating that unexpectedly bring the class members closer together, forming a collective friendship.
This highly relatable comedy drama uncovers the hidden sweetie stashes and fast-food flyer drawers of the diet class attendees as they constantly attempt to justify to the intensely frustrated and very edgy Moira their total collective failure at the weekly weigh-in.
With a musical element and a real Glaswegian feel, Diet is a story about real people for real people.
The show starts at 7.30pm and you can get tickets for the production here.
