TWO men face murder charges after another man died following a serious assault in Irvine High Street.
Sean McKie was taken into custody after being given bail when he returned to court in connection with the incident.
We previously reported Simon Roberts was remanded in custody at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week - with both 36-year-olds then facing assault charges, including attempted murder.
The Crown Office has since confirmed both now face a charge of murder.
Malcolm McCandlish has been named locally after the 43-year-old passed away in hospital on October 14, having been injured in the alleged attack on September 24 - footage of which was widely shared on social media.
Simon Roberts appeared from custody on October 16 after the 36-year-old was arrested in connection with last month's incident.
He faces charges of threatening or abusive behaviour, murder and assault to injury.
Sean McKie now faces a charge of murder, three assault claims, with one to injury, and one of threatening or abusive behaviour.
Bail had been granted by the sheriff with an appeal made by prosecutors, and Mr McKie is now awaiting the outcome in custody.
Both were committed for further examination and have entered no plea to the charges.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were made aware of a 43-year-old man having been seriously assaulted at Irvine High Street around 6pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
“The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died on Monday, October 14.
“A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, October 9.
"A further man, aged 36, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
"He was due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Wednesday, October 16."
