AN ARDROSSAN boxer has been forced to pull out of a European championship after suffering a head injury.
Brooke Neely exited the EUBC European Under-23 Championships after what appeared to be a ‘clash of heads’ with her opponent Marjona Savriyeva from Azerbaijan.
The 50kg Quarter-Final bout took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on Tuesday, October 15.
She suffered a ‘large swelling’ to her forehead, and it was ruled that the bout could not continue by the ringside doctors less than two minutes into the first round.
Brooke trains at Irvine's Vineburgh Boxing Club and has won multiple awards in her field.
These include gold at the GB Junior and Youth Three Nations Championships and she was also the first female Scottish boxer to win three consecutive titles.
